Where Rural Living Meets Convenience

Essex Township borders Gratiot County to the north and includes both the Village of Maple Rapids and portions of St. Johns within its boundaries. The Maple River winds through the northwest area, adding to the township’s natural beauty and peaceful rural setting.

Spanning approximately 35 square miles, Essex Township is defined by farmland, open space, and a close-knit community atmosphere. Residents enjoy a quiet, country lifestyle while remaining just a short drive from nearby cities like Lansing.
