Burning permits: Burning permits are issued by the Maple Rapids DPW. Please request a permit prior to burning by contacting DPW @ 989-682-4569.

Township meetings: Next meeting – June 14 Regularly scheduled meetings are held at the Maple Rapids Community Center on the second Thursday of February, March, April, June, August, October, and December at 7:30p.m. The public is always welcome. |

Essex Township Clerk Flo Benson announced her retirement from the position at the December Township meeting. Flo served as our clerk for 29 years. She is looking forward to spending more time with her family and having the opportunity to vacation in the south for a few weeks in the winter. The Township is very grateful to Flo for all the work she put in as our Clerk. Angela Bunn has been appointed to fill the Clerk position for the remainder of the term. Angi is a lifelong resident of the township and has served as the Deputy Clerk in Essex Township for the past three years.
